Career Goal: To continue to work and contribute to the tourism industry in The Islands Of The Bahamas with a focus on tourism development initiatives which are sustainable to ensure the economic well-being of the country for future generations.

Work Experience: Spanning a period of some thirty-five years commencing in 1978, I have worked in various capacities in The Ministry of Tourism covering such areas as Public Relations, Advertising (traditional and digital), Sales, Website Development, Call Centres, Distribution, Brochure Production, Special Event Management, Business Development and Management of Overseas Offices.

During a five-year period from 1988-1993, I worked at the Bahamas Hotel Association as a Manager of Committee Relations and Special Events, gaining valuable experience in the Private Sector particularly in the area of advocacy on issues affecting the hotel industry’s success in The Bahamas and organized the first Hospitality Expo for Bahamian goods and services for the industry.

In 1994, I returned to the Ministry of Tourism and was stationed overseas in the UK office representing The Bahamas throughout Europe to establish and manage a European Call Centre, manage contracted agencies in both advertising and PR and recruit multi-lingual staff.

More recently, as Senior Director of Global Communications, I was responsible for the oversight of all of the Ministry’s contracted agencies in the areas of Advertising, PR, Digital Marketing, Website Development, Online Distribution Channels such as Expedia, and all of our joint marketing efforts with private sector partners, airlines, tour operators, large hotels such as Bahamar and Atlantis, Cruise Lines such as Discovery, Balearia and Celebration.

In addition, I was involved in the Management of Special Events such as Superboat, Races, Golf and Tennis Tournaments, Music Festivals, 30th Anniversary of Independence, Royal Towers Opening, Classic Car Festivals, International and Local Conferences and many other events of national importance.

From a business development perspective, I was challenged by previous Government administrations to develop new product in such areas as Boating, Fishing, Diving, Weddings and Honeymoon and Private Flying gaining valuable experience in assisting with the formulation of appropriate legislation to govern these vertical markets and impacting their functioning safely in The Bahamas, while providing economic returns to those involved. Tours and Experiences for visitors were focused on especially in some of the other islands such as, Bimini, Eleuthera and Princess Cays, to encourage visitors to experience the island as opposed to staying on the private cay, which had no trickle down into the local economy.

Sound Project Management skills, Marketing skills along with administrative and analytical thinking have resulted in creative solutions to challenges faced in the execution of duties and projects. This, along with knowledge of how our Government functions has allowed me to provide guidance to foreign and Bahamian investors who are seeking to execute projects in The Bahamas.

In 2013, I led the European and Asia teams managing the BTO’s and the Marketing Agencies.

In 2014, I was assigned to the Hotel Corporation in a move to transition it to the product development arm of tourism (TDC) with the charge to focus on attracting and facilitating new investment in the sector. Among the initiatives this entailed were

•Supporting the Sunwing Group in its efforts to expand its footprints beyond theMemories resort and consider a new build site in Eastern GBI.

•Support the Bimini Bay and Genting Resorts World joint venture in delivering amore diverse destination experience in Bimini, including operating TourismServices Bimini Limited, a subsidiary of the Hotel Corporation as a DMC entity.

•Pursued initiatives to attract the development of a new tourism destination inSouth Eleuthera on the 3,000 acre site owned by Hotel Corporation in a jointventure with TUI Group and Blue Diamond resorts.
